Club History

Benkennie Netball Club officially began in 1984 with 5 teams.  Gill Davies, Kay Parkinson, Sheila Skinner, Eileen Dolan and Ann Moore began the club.

The name Benkennie (meaning dry waterhole) related to the suburb listed on Camden South electricity bills but was also the name of Kay Parkinson and her husband’s milk run.

The uniform was of a grey tartan skirt and light blue shirt and was chosen by two players, Megan Parkinson and Robyn Skinner, along with the first president, Gill Davies.

The first registration was held in Gill Davies garage.

C&DNA’s first life member was Kay Parkinson after spending 10 years in their committee.

In 2024 Benkennie celebrated 40 years of netball where we introduced our new style uniform. Learn more about our celebrations and uniform here
